Friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom

Friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom

Friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom is a group of local volunteers whose aim is to plant, care for and regularly replenish the flower displays in public places in Hoylake and Meols.

The friends of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom are a self funding, registered charity with no direct funding from the council, most of our funds come from Support memberships, grants and events like our annual garden party and local gigs.

Our aim is to beautify our village, keep it smiling all year round with our planters all along Market Street, the barrier baskets on the roundabout and the brick planters in the middle of the village.

We are passionate about flowers but we are also very keen to keep our parks and open spaces looking as good as possible, especially in these hard times. We want our children to have fun and safe places to play so hopefully they will grow up respecting their village and community.

The Parade Gardens and Queens Park condition has been deteriorating for some years with the council unable to rejuvenate them in this economic climate, we took on this task and I am sure most of you will have seen the wonderful mosaic and murals in the Parade Gardens. We are now pleased to have gone to the next step in providing sensory play equipment for the Parade Gardens and new exciting play equipment for Queens Park, details are on our web site

www.hoylakeinbloom.co.uk.

In Queens Park the original swings and centre play slide are being kept but looked very shabby and badly needing painting.

We put out a call for help and were thrilled when Kevin Mock the owner of painting contractor K.J.Mock Ltd offered to completely paint them free of charge. The Parks and gardens are slowly being transformed into wonderful outdoor open spaces to be enjoyed by all.

We have been looking at adding an adventure/activity trail to Queens Park play area and are delighted that Everite Windows have come forward to invest in the future of the Village's parks by providing funds for the trail, they are also going to provide free dog poo bags at the entrances of Meols Parade Gardens.

We would welcome other local business's sponoship or help in supporting our aims, as a business or professional if you like what we do and feel you can help, please get in touch.

We have plans afoot to further enhance the Parks, Gardens and village like going for Park Green Flag status and replacing the ageing sports courts in the Parade Gardens. But we need your help, If you are not already a support member please consider joining us for £5.00 a year (£7.00 per family), it's so easy to join on line at www.hibmembers.co.uk or alternately please phone our membership secretary Dot Rooney on 0151 632 4215 for a membership form,

If you would like to join our team of volunteers please contact Jan on 07725 540049 or email on hoylakeinbloom@hotmail.co.uk .

Your support memberships are very much appreciated and make all the difference to the village
